and robbed in what they are calling crime time. i am in for craig melvin tonight. the crimes happen in the early morning hours when it's dark outside and bars have just closed. darcy spencer is here with more on the disturbing trend. >> it certainly is disturbing and students are frightened. many students are walking home and catching buses back to campus, and that's when the robbers are striking. a university of maryland student was attacked by a group of four men here about 2:00 saturday morning. the robbers took the money out of the man's wallet and left him injured on the ground just a few blocks from campus. >> very scary. very thankful that i have never been approached by anyone. >> reporter: this was the latest in a series of off-campus robbers. police are not sure if it is linked to the university. >> we have had four incidents where victims have been robbed, either in late evening hours or early morning hours. in each of these cases we have not had definitive information that links them altogether yet. >> police are warning students they are most likely to become a victim in w

francisco bay at the on craig's list is finally it's answering a very crucial part of the website. it came after a request of law enforcement officer else to take down the adult services section. >> craigs list took down its adult services section. if you go there today crakes list. com under services it says the black bar the read censored. it basically it replaced the adult service section and if you click on and nothing happens. here is a look at it before was taken down, the officials say there was a lot of questionable assets that were selling sex and promoting a child prostitution. in fact they actually use this site to catch prostitutes. we did a story back in 2008. >> craigs less we had six arrests in june and we had another six in may. >> exist censored but the section on to the attorney general asked the company to take down this section. >> these prostitution adds unable human trafficing, assaults on women, they are flagrant and rented. >> they have been reluctant to it remove it because it is the biggest money making section. they charged $10 for each post. a group is a researc

craig melvin. that thursday afternoon fire destroyed three houses and damaged five others and now those who are displaced know why. darcy spencer is live with more on what fire investigators discovered there. darcy, gd evening. >> reporter: craig, the fire marshal says this blaze was, in fact, an accident. it was caused when a resident discarded a cigarette butt in a potted plant. fire investigators determined the blaze that destroyed three homes in manassas o thursday was caused by a resident that threw a cigarette butt on a plant. >> potting soil is not dirt. potting soils organic material. the mulch that is in these potted plants, sometimes, is shredded timber, shredded bark. >> reporter: the fire marshal says the blaze in the sumner lake community spread from the potted plant to the deck to the vinyl siding and then to adjacent homes. it's been ruled an accident. the fire marshal says the smoker whose house was among those destroyed, had been discarding cigarette butts this way tore sometime. >> there was a small breez 5 to 10 miles per hour that was blowing in that dection and it p

over the bay today. if you're lucky enough to have one. craig herrera is out in the hot weather, somewhere along the fountains in downtown san jose. where are you? i'm guessing you're not dry at all? >> reporter: raj, i'm a little bit wet, i could be a little more wet. i'm going to step into the fountains quickly. the kids and parents are having a good time. a lot of the parents are in the shade, the kids are playing in the fountains. the temperatures are up. we're going to have more heat tomorrow. as we go through the evening hours, by 7:00 tonight we still have some heat out there, some 70s and 80s right around the rim of the bay. we still have just dropped under the 90 degree mark in some of the warmer inland valleys, tomorrow we continue with the heat even by 7:00 and 8:00 tomorrow morning. we have the heat with us. can you expect that tomorrow morning. not much in the way of fog. certainly no clouds, so sunday will be a repeat of today. there's some cooler weather coming in, but only to the coast. rather than those 80s today, we drop to the 70s. still nice along the coast.

in time for the last holiday of the summer. meteorologist craig herrera's here with a quick look for us. hi, craig. >> hi, diane. we had some 90s out there today. and today was just a brief preview of what's to come tomorrow. 90 in livermore, 80s across most bay locations and 90 in sonoma. as we go through the evening hours, there is not a lot of fog. 58 in san francisco, 70 in livermore and 70 in concord. just after 11:00 p.m. so we've still got some warm weather out there. what we have right now is the fog and you can see by 10:00 p.m. there's little patches starting to form by monterey bay but closer to the bay area not a whole lot 37 winds coming out of the north pushing a lot of fog down south most of that confined to monterey bay 4:00 a.m. tomorrow takes us to 8:00 a.m. and still not much in the way of fog so you know when we don't have that fog in the morning hours we're really going to start to warm back up. this is the satellite. there's a big ridge of high pressure right about here. those off winds are coming in tomorrow. look at, that 70s, 80s, and 90s on the forecast.
